Sweaty skies

Its beautiful today.
I used to hate the rain but I think that I'm slowly starting to love it.

I remember when my brothers and I were tiny kids in the Philippines and would strip down to nothing but our skin and rub soap over our entire sloped driveway. (or maybe i was the only one gone au natural and they were still in underwear..hmm..who really cares haha) Then, we would slide down like the happiest three munchkins in the entire world. The toddler giggles still echo clearly in my head :) My brother even used to pick up the worms in the gutter with bbq sticks and gross me out while the other brother would stand silently by yet so intrigued.

doesn't everyone miss the simple days?

anyhoots, i have a blessing today :) wanted to buy a subway lunch deal for $5.00 but realized I only had $4.00 (coins included). however, the catering company next door shared their lunch with us! it was glorious. homemade mac & cheese (some of the best i've ever had, next to Cristina's..), asian salad, and some sort of magnificently tender carne asada smothered in bbq sauce on a crispy-on-the-outside-tender-inside baguette. I actually want seconds but i'm too shy to ask :]

I wish the monstrous mess left at home wouldn't be waiting to devour me. i'd totally construct a fort (a la dining table) and build a secret world and watch movies all night long. and only beings whos names start with Jingles (or Jingel) may enter. Cuddle with my chocopuff (the toy..not the real one hahah) and have endless sweets & junk food to keep us up all night!

..My world is sad because my dear cousin Kris is leaving to the Philippines for 6 months (pastoral internship). its such an intensely bittersweet feeling. my heart was literally aching because there's going to be a huge hole left (at least for 6 months). I guess its also God's extra push for our leadership to seriously, passionately.. pursue after His will, His heart.. His example just as Kris has .. and does. Ah, he seriously is the big brother i look up to and admire. He even regulated on me just like one..sometimes even harder. hahahah.

Eyes are swollen, my heart is open and I'm ready to learn.

I wish I could go to Haiti, but work does not allow. Those people were already in desperation..and now its even worse. I think about my situation and how I have all I could possibly need. Not abounding in material riches.. but overflowing with God's daily sufficiency.

I'll close this off with a quote from an old devotion that was much needed for my idolatrous heart:
"It is never God's will that we should be anything less than absolutely complete in Him. Anything that disturbs our rest in Him must be rectified at once, & it is not rectified by being ignored but only by coming to Jesus Christ. If we will come to Him, asking Him to produce Christ-awareness in us, He will always do it, until we fully learn to abide in Him."
